Private Tutoring
Welcome to Private Tutoring. I offer four one-on-one tracks, each designed around a different learning goal.
Private Tutoring provides personalized support for schoolwork, reading, writing, and creative projects.
Advanced Vocabulary & Grammar develops a deep understanding of the building blocks of English through the Michael Clay Thompson Language Arts curriculum.
Private Lit Lab brings the Literary Lab experience into a one-on-one setting, where students study professional authors' craft and apply those techniques in their own original writing.
Private Reader’s Study brings the Reader’s Study experience into a one-on-one setting, where students practice close reading.
All four tracks share RAWR's goal to develop the student's relationship with language so that every piece reflects thoughtful choices, genuine confidence, and a voice that is unmistakably their own.
Private Tutoring
Private Tutoring at RAWR is built around your student's current work and interests. Each session is responsive: if a class essay is due, we work on the essay. If there's a creative project they're excited about, we plan, draft, and revise it together. The goal isn't a finished product—it's a student who understands how to make deliberate choices on the page and trusts their own judgment when they do.
Tuition: $85/hour
(as low as $78.20/hour with a 15-hour package)
Private Reader’s Study
The Private Reader's Study is the individual version of RAWR's Reader's Study seminar. The student reads one book per term—slowly, with genuine attention—organized around a single guiding question that shapes every discussion, annotation, and piece of writing. Every term ends with a published Reader's Zine—the student's own account of not only what they understood about the book, but how it changed the way they think.
Tuition: $85 per 60-minute session, billed by term
Learn MoreAdvanced Grammar & Vocabulary
Advanced Grammar & Vocabulary follows Michael Clay Thompson's Language Arts curriculum—a rigorous, sequential study of grammar, vocabulary, poetry, and writing. Students build a precise understanding of how English works: how sentences are structured, how words are built from Latin and Greek roots, and what those structures allow writers to do. This track runs alongside school, not in place of it. It provides the depth that helps students write with greater precision, intention, and confidence.Tuition: $85/hour
(as low as $78.20/hour with a 15-hour package)
Plus a one-time Materials Fee ($155–$190, based on level)
